Thanks. My blackberry took it. So no cracks in my 9mm head that I can see with the naked eye. And my cylinder walls look good. But I'm pretty sure the head isn't the oriiginal. A few pistons have some light damage on the top. Haven't pulled them yet. Number 3 cylinder has some LIGHT vertical marks but they don't catch on your finger nail. KDP was sitting snuggly in the case but a few mm from poking out. The inside of the timing case and oil pan is cummins Tan. Is this correct for a truck engine? THANKS

Yes its supposed to be cummins tan, our timing case was too.

I'm pretty sure the whole engine was tan and dodge painted it black...

that's how your overflow bottle filled up lol. good picture. my timing cover was more of a yellowish color. it was painted after the engine was assembled. you can see where the paint missed behind the vibration damper and part of the fan hub the old cummins color is a beige but has more of a tan look to it. i've seen the cans of spray paint in "cummins beige" at napa.

i wouldn't use it. i think the only felpro gaskets i'd ever use would be for the valve covers. that'd be an absolute last resort though. genuine cummins for me when it comes to a head gasket and most if not, all internal and external parts

When head gasket fails you guys just use a stock cummins gasket or is there a aftermarket one thats better? While you are in there is there any other work that is recommended?

I put it in 3 years ago. I think the whole kit for the top end was felpro. So is my oil pan gasket, and front timing cover gasket. Is this bad?

Most I read here use cummins HG, I have no idea why they are better than aftermarket but there must be a reason. I also read if You don't go pass 30psi boost You don't need to use other than head bolts.

Depends on the application and who it was supplied to..Ford-blue. Dodge-Black. Off road-tan. As well as all the aircraft support vehicles engines were tan. Cannot remember what Case's paint was..
