ok been looking around now that i have the bug for a crewcab shortbox and found a 79 what is the cutoff year if i have a 93 donor truck for exchanging front sheet metal . looking to stick a cummins 5speed and transfer case in the beast.

i asked about a 78 i think and found it should work with your fenders and front doors to keep you body lines on the front, but i'm not sure about the bed. i was looking at a flatbed.

Crew cabs are pretty much the same 72-85. There are slight differances in the firewall for heater box configurations ( 72-80 then 81-85) but other then that same cab all years. You cab bolt your 81- 93 sheet metalto your 79 cab.

A crew cab is my dream. I want to chop the frame though and put a long bed on it for work. A crew cab, dually, with a nv4500 or 5600 would be the sweetest truck.

There's a one ton gasser d350 SRW here in town. Likely for sale. Been sitting about 6 years. Long box crewcab. About an 82 or so
