Question Ford Steel Wheels on 92 w250?

OK i know the truck will burst into flames and trap me inside for using ford parts, but this is my only dodge in a fleet of fords. So the real question is what to use for lugnuts? Fords use 9/16 studs and Dodge uses 1/2 and i'm not really wanting to put 9/16 studs in the dodge. I have tried one and the fit is so-so but could be better. They center up like they are supposed to just it's awfully deep into the wheel. Any where to find 1/2 lugs that have the external size of a 9/16 lug it would make feel better about the fit.

Thanks
JON

you can buy those lug nuts from dodge. They have 1/2" threads but a big cone and shoulder like the 9/16" lug nuts that fords and 2nd gens have. I have posted the part number here at least two times before, myself.

I'm running ford steelies and have some lame-o aftermarket chrome acorn-looking lug nuts and the wheel centers up real nice. The ford rims are very nice.

The older Ford SRW 16" wheels are stouter and heavier than anything else out there.

The good wheels start the first year, 1975 or 76, that Ford quit the killer two-piece split-ring wheels and went to solid single piece wheels, and about 1986, or so, Ford started making a cheapie looking wheel like everyone else.

I have a set of 16X7 wheels off a 1998 ford one ton van. They are made by Accuride (stamped on the rim). As far as I know these wheels are the best steelie out there. I know that my spare is a ford 16X6 wheel with the blue oval stamped on the rim, don't know what era it is from.

From the Accuride site these rims are rated at around 3040 lbs. this is more than the dually rims @2440 lbs. The new 170mm superduty spec accuride rims have a weight rating at 3450 lbs!

Alcoa Also spec'd the Oem f250 srw trucks from the 90's pre super duty ford trucks. They can still be purchased brand new apparently!

One way to identify the good Ford wheels is a very heavy, very thick, rim-lip, that has a pronounced "rolled" edge.

Also, the center hole, where the hub pokes through, has a very pronounced, thick, heavy shoulder-flange.

Between the stud-holes will be the Ford oval logo.

I can spot one a mile away.

I know mine is 2wd, but I recently had 2 tires mounted up to put on the front, and just gave him 2 ford wheels to use. They must have been different, because my beauty ring will not fit on the one, Its either too shallow or to deep-i dunno I just too my f-i-l's word

So do any of the Ford rims hold the Dodge hubcaps? The Ford rims that I have only had 3 ears/lugs for the hubcap to snap over as opposed to the 4 ears/lugs on my Dodge rims. The result was that the hubcap kept popping off because it wasn't rigid enough. I am still running the Ford rims but just can't run hubcaps so back to the original question - do any Ford rims have the 4 ears/lugs for the hubcap?

Mine do. They're from a 95 f250 and are just like Bearkiller describes. Just wish I had some hubcaps
