For add in lights I would have used some of these. They are small enough to fit under the dash.

I have one of these mounted over the cargo light switch plate as I have extra switches in there. It also lights up my brake controller. I tapped it into the map light and it does a great job lighting but is directional so it does not blind you.

Here are the LED's I used for my Glove box, you could use these strips under the ledge of the dash to light the floorboard.
