flexable exhaust piping?

i had a chevy with a cummins in it and i had that flexy pipe that the big rigs use alot and i was wondering if anyone has used this stuff? i bet it wouldnt last long in the midwest to east coast with the rust issues but out here in californie it would last awhile. this would be a cheap way to run piping.

Na, it's probably against the law... Or would pass inspection. God I hated living there while I was in the Navy...

what part did you live in? i hate southern california. up north its real nice.

well here in california we dont have inspections unless you get pulled over by a cop and he sends your truck to the referee or the BAR.

I'm in the rust belt and use the flex exhaust pipe. It eventually rots away but if you use the band type exhaust connectors rather than clamps it is easy to replace.

I don't have any on my W250, yet, but many of our other vehicles have it. I like it because you can use it to decouple the manifold or crossover or down pipe form the rest of the exhaust and don't have to worry so much about having all of the hangers and clearances just right to account for engine roll, thermal expansion, etc.

I have about a 30" piece going past the transfer case. I wrapped it with a layer of duct tape each time I've had the exhaust off for various changes/upgrades, three times so far. It gets hot enough to melt into the ribs and harden. Now it's a virtually solid piece piece of pipe that will never rust, at least from the ouside.

I used Flex Pipe for two yrs when I changed to twins, with a shorter down pipe. Had an 18" section and, like said above, using the band clamps works very well. I used galvanized but stainless is available, if your in the rust belt.
