Flex Plate questions

I have been looking around for a heavy duty flex plate. I have found a SFI flex plate and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them or know anything about them . The only thing I was able to find out was they are .035 thicker and the welds are longer. `

I have the suncoast flexplate in mine. It is probably overkill for the power I am putting down, but that's alright.

I was stranded on the road when my flex plate decided to gut itself. When it was repaired they said they put a second gen flex plate back in the truck. Do you think it will be alright. I only use this truck to tow. No racing or sled pulling.

As far as obtaining a service/replacement flexplate for our 1st gens, the original flexplate as came with our trucks has been superseded with the 2nd gen flexplates. Meaning you can only get the 2nd gen unit.

I have the same flex plate that bigjohn92 posted. It has been in the truck for approx 4years of hard driving & drag racing. When i bought it. It was only a 125$ came with paper work stating sfi approved It has worked good for me. But I did have to make a spacer to get clearance for torque converter to front pump.

I may put a flex plate in mine, I was wandering about the spacer you mention.
Will I need to buy a spacer?

I put a 94 flex plate in mine and it is exactly the same thickness as my 93 was, down to the .001.

i think the 2nd gen beeing thicker is a mith or somewhere after 94 they went to a thicker one.

It's not an issue of thickness. The newer flexplates are shotpeened to strengthen them.

Does a 6.7 flex plate fit? and is it stronger than the 2nd gen since it doesn't have the cut outs?
