Flex plate questions
Well I think it might be close to the time to fork for that converter I should have gotten a long time ago and really should do the flex plate at the same time.
Is there anything better than the second gen flex plate that we can use for our trucks? where's the best/cheapest place to get a flex plate?
The second gen is a straight bolt on right?

There are aftermarket flex plates but unless you plan on a tremendous amount of horse power I personally wouldn't pay the extra price.
A good cheap source would be a good salvage yard, ebay, or DTR classified. You might even be as luck as some and get one for free.
The second gen flex is direct replacement.

Well some day the plan is to have a truck in the 450hp range but that isn't for a long time and by then I don't plan on running the 518 anyway so I guess the second gen flexplate is my ticket. Thanks

I got mine right from Cummins and it was less expensive than a second gen.flexplate by quite a bit. I don't know if its any better as I never got killer HP. in front of it.
