everyone in my neck-o-the-woods, uses these
http://www.protech.net/ They are very robust, and they build for trucking industry, thus, your Protech Aluminum product is not a 'window-dressing', and has strengthened areas to avoid aluminum weaknesses (fatique) Road and diesel vibration can wreak havoc on a cheesy product.
Check the 'Capital Press', farm paper for N.CA, OR, ID, WA, MT

I can't swing $$$ for my 'work truck', so it has a steel flatbed, but I really miss my Dump bed, that I have on my '78 1T 4x4

Hi there-
I have an aluminum flatbed on my '93. I built it. I originally built it for a '97 Dodge 1500, but transferred it over to my first gen when I got it about 6 weeks ago. There are pictures in my gallery.
I did have some welds break a while ago, but that was associated with the crane which I added later without sufficient gusseting. I fixed that with better welds as well as bolting when I put it on the '93.
The bed works great for me. Way back when I built it I weighed the truck before and after, and found that I had added 10 pounds over the stock setup.
I can give you more details if you'd like. Or, maybe I can build you one? Have you priced out the Protech beds yet?
