Flat fender Power Wagon 12v Cummins VE
Well it's time for build thread showing the progress of this one over the years, about 5 years ago I bought this as project that a guy had started but never finished. I liked it and always wanted a flat fender power wagon and of course it needed to have a 12v. I figured it was a good foundation to build into a decent truck but the quality of the build was very poor so I'm ripping it apart and redoing it. In his defence he was going on the "rat rod" theme.
I've been acquiring parts since buying it but still have a big list to fill. Anyways the truck has a 92 cummins with a 5spd getrag, 205 T case Dana 60/60's. The trans is NFG, cab and fenders are NFG, pretty much anything done before is NFG.
The plan is replace the cab with one off a 42 dodge, new fenders and running boards from Tisdale coach works, nv4500 from a 98 dodge cummins, speedhut gauges, Ron Francis wiring harness, Warn M12000 winch and a pile of VPW repro parts.
On with the pictures!

You sir should be ashamed of yourself!!!!
Down in the 50 we have laws against children working.
All jokes aside this is a sick build. Without a doubt the toughest looking truck ever made with the toughest engine. Way cool. I have to ask, I didn't know the PW and the 2wd trucks shared the same cab. Were there any differences between the two that you had make work? Seriously, way cool!!!!

Around my place if you want to eat, you work. 😉. Seriously though they are good helpers, we buy thrashed vehicles and flip them for a profit to fund things like shop projects and family trips and they do a lot of the cleaning and polishing.
Flat fenders have always been one of my favorite trucks and the aftermarket support for them is incredible. The cabs are slightly different in that the side rocker valence is taller on the 2wd cab and the cab corner hangs down lower. This will need to be modified. The grille surround brace rod clips seem to be in a different area as well but I don't see this being a concern

Love the Flat fender PW's. So most of the work done to the FF was done by the previous owner? If that the stock PW frame, or did the PO use a dodge frame?
Be watching this one as well.....Man Ashley you have some cool vehicles in your fleet....totes jelly....

Its the stock PW frame that the previous owner tried boxing, it needs a lot of work yet though

Did he have to do a lot of cutting on the firewall for the long 5.9? None of the pictures showed the hoods on it. Did the PO have them on? My son is turning 3 on the 27th. I cant wait til he's old enough to have him working in the shop without having to chase him to get the needed tool back.

Are you planing on keeping it IC, or go non-IC. Personally I would probably go Non-IC since it would free up some room, and keep the install tighter and looking cleaner IMO.

Just wondering how in the world you guys up in Canada find anything not completely rotted. Such a cool project.
Good catch cows. That was the best picture, LOL

You can see in the pics that the firewall was recessed pretty heavily....guessing close to 6"? And there was one pic with the hood on as well.....

Actually bought this in South Dakota. Most of my vehicles come from the USA lol

Yep as Tcows spotted the firewall is hacked up quite a bit. I'll tighten that up with the new cab. The hood was just sitting on, missing some pieces to mount it. My daughter in the picture above is 3, she mostly "thinks" she's helping more then anything.
I'm planning on keeping it intercooled

love those old Dodges. There was a Cummins powered flat fender at a local car show but never did see it sitting.
