Well, I deided to give it a worl and take it to the inlaws for our early Chrismas celebaration and the old dodge ran flawlessly... I just wish it would have been sunny instead of snowy.. I don't even want to look under the truck..lol

Here were my stats for the first 220 mile trip..

-700 degree exhaust temp at the manifold
-3 lbs of boost
-160 exhaust temp
-1900 Rpm at 70 mph 4.10 gears with lock up..he..he

220 miles on a half of tank... Is that good or bad?? Haven't filled up yet, to darn cold!!

It was about 20 degrees out and I had a 20-25 mph head wind the whole way, drove 70 mph with cruise on and off.. I also have about 1,000lbs in the bed for weight because it rides like a fire truck without... So, how does these stats sound compared to you guys that have logged tons of miles.. Thanks Derek

your temps and boost are right on track. millage is hard to determine because of the variations in the fuel gauges.

i know about that ride, mine rode like that when i bought it from our volunteer fire dept. it had 10 leaf rear springs. when i did the dana 80 swap i took three main leafs out and took the 3" block out added an overload from a 95 z71and a 1" block from a 2002 2wd cummins. rides alot better and isn't 3" higher in the back anymore.

Sounds normal, those big tires are helping keep the RPM down.

If you really used 1/2 a tank (15 gallons) you got 14.6 mpg.

Over thanksgiving I made a 310 mile round trip in my truck.

W250 5sp 4:10's
EGT: 600 degrees
Boost: 5 lbs (14cm)
Engine Temp: Stayed below half (dummy gauge)
Constant speed of 60-65 (2000-2200 rpm) with no weight and on flat ground with 265-75-16 Mich LTX.

Whole trip on less then a half tank guessing around 12 gallons
It was actually the longest trip I have taken since I bought it 4 years ago, still haven't filled up.

(Not too mention no cruse control)

Opps.. It was 160 tranny temp.. I don't know the water temp, it was at like 3/8 toward cold with 3/4 cardbooard covering the raditor.. Well, I'm hoping for better than 14.6, I was hoping for atleast 15, then minus the 25mph headwind and I'll be doin ok!! We'll see when I fill her up!

I was just pokin him. He did a ton of work on the thing and the old salty roads will undo his nice truck. I hate salt. Now I gotta go plow and spread salt, its snowing.

My usual from Houston to Houma, LA:

EGT-580* pre turbo
Eng temp @185 (efan keep it there)
Boost @70- 6psi

355 miles each way, 710 miles total. I fill back up when I get home and it takes 26-27 gallons on average. My fuel gauge doesnt work so I just set the trip meter and fill up about every 650-700 highway miles, or every 500 miles if I do alot of playing and around town driving.

Last week I made a 775 mile trip with a 6BT on the flatbed. That was one way milage also. Total milage for the trip was around 2500 miles with all the extra milage running around seeing relatives.

EGT's 800
RPM 2000
75 MPH+
13 MPG hand calcauted. Return trip was around 15MPG.
My flatbed has a lot of air drag on it.

Holy cow, you can go 650 on a tank on the highway!!! Well, I still haven't filled up yet because it is a blizzard out!! The truck hasn't been driven in a yr so, hopefully gettin a few miles on it will losen everything back up... Maybe a new set of injectors towards summer too..

And I'm not to happy about driving around in all the salt and such, but I built it to drive it and If I can get another 15 yrs out of it, I will be happy.. It will have served its time!! Then it will be time to redo the mega cab and the same story, rebuild it and get another 15 yrs... That is the plan for now!!

If I had money squirting out my butt, I would go find about 6 92-93 dodges and put them in storage and 1 new or slightly used 5.9 mega... Put them away and bring them from the dead in 15-20 yrs... But that is living in my fairytale life!!

One thing on your side with that plan is as the years go by people for the most part just get dumber. 15 years ago most guys could do there own maintenance and kept alot of old trucks running. Now days there are fewer and fewer shade tree mechanics and most guys will just sell a truck that has a few problems and buy a new one. Thats when someone like me comes along and offers a few hundred bucks for it and with a little time and very little money its up and running again. lol

My first 1st gen was a $500 89' W350 with a 8' plow, matching camper, all paper work, and even the window sticker was still in the glove box. It had the best interior I've ever seen in it too. Pics are in my gallery of it. That guy thought the IP was going out and that it was getting worn out because it had like 130k miles on it. All that was wrong with it was the throttle return spring was broke and the idle screw backed out a few turns. I put a $4 spring on it and adjusted the idle screw and it was perfect. I put it in Uncle Henry's (like craigslist down south) for a quick sell before moving back to texas and it took 30 minutes to sell it for $2500, so I made my money back on it. lol
