First start in a year

I’m building a truck and have got to the point I wanted to start it up. I have changed the fuel pin and governor spring. So when we started it it went to high rpm’s. We quickly shut it off. The power screw hadn’t been screwed in which could create a run away. After many attempts with the same results we took pump apart to see if I had made an error installing the fuel pin and spring. Everything looked fine. My motor is a 91 and I have completely removed the ecm and wired it myself. So if anyone has an idea please let me know. Thanks

Well we figured it out. On the splined shaft on the pump where the throttle hooks to we had to move it one spline notch.

When I did my spring I marked it with a Sharpie. Then sprayed with carb cleaner after removal. It removed my index mark.

Welcome to the forum!

I counted the little index lines, and didn't have that happen again.

It’s in the 91 D250 but a 1949 Ford sits on it.

Hmmm, I'm not sure you'll get away with posting only one picture of that.

Do you happen to have a build thread somewhere?

Wish I could make that sound my ring tone!

Thanks for sharing. Really cool.

On a scale of 1-10, how easy/hard was it to mate the Ford body to the Dodge chassis?

It was not that easy but the results are worth it. I’m presently putting a Chev truck on an 89 W250 with another Cummins. Buggar for punishment

A lot harder with a 4*4 very little room. This has no inter cooler

33 inch tires and a body lift

I see you had to do a little fire wall work on that Chevy.
Nice looking trucks your putting together.

The lack of intercooler on an old rig with a narrow front grille and little space would be the way to go, I would think.

On the Ford I moved the engine back 3.5 inches on the frame but the Chev is 4 by 4 so would need both drive shafts adjusted so instead was far enough ahead I got to put a new straight firewall in. Plus it was rusted and some of the floor.

New 14 gauge firewall
