Favor plz, instrument panel width?

Altho I don't have 1st gen (yet) I'm researching & collecting parts to upgrade any 1st gen I do get. WRT the IP, I'm considering switching from the stock analog setup to a 6 gauge digital panel ~14"L x ~3"H &, hopefully, adding addl individual digital gauges (de-mounted & perhaps trimmed) below the 6 gauge panel. Which brings me to my question: Is the instrument panel wide enuf to accept the ~14"W gauge panel? TIA.

The instrument panel - measured from the inside of the drivers panel outlet to the edge of the message center is 15.5 inches wide and 5.5 inches high. I see this as "useable" instrument replacement space. Hope this helps.
