fan clutch bearing??

I went up to the dodge *********** to see about a bearing or what was inside the clutch fan housing on the motor . The guy told me 200 bucks for just the bearing . Doesn't that seem crazy? When I spin the pully with the fan off, it just zings and sounds blownout .. So anybody have any ideas? I didnt see a listing for it by auto zone or anything..

Try a Cummins dealer. May be more reasonable through Cummins.

Are you talking about the fan clutch itself, or the shaft that the fan/clutch attach to?

If you are talking about the shaft that the fan/clutch attach to there is a replaceable bearing part number NTN DF0766LUA, from this thread:

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ht=fan+bearing

I hope this is what you're looking for.

Anyone know if there is a different part number than DF0766LUA? I can not seem to find this bearing anywhere. I have an 01 Dodge Cummins 3500. Thank you

Try asking Jim Lane. Iirc he found some on ebay for maybe $40.00. I think he said they were good quality. Just a thought to save a buck. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the replies. I seen the one on ebay - but it doesn't look like it is tapered. I asked the seller if it was and he didn't know what I meant. Still waiting on a second reply from him.

---- What is the "violation" I have committed?

Thanks,

bkeence

Looking at your Sig, it appears you may have had an advertisement in there. It's mandated that all such be done in the want-ads.
Otherwise, . . . . dunno.

Did you get a PM about it?

No the bearing is not tapered.

Here is a link to a recent post when I had to replace mine.

Check the second and eighth post down.

Thanks Jim, That is it exactly. Took a torch today and cut out the old bearing. Hope to get the new one in the next couple days.
Great pics by the way.
