external voltage regulator
Im going to see about adding a external voltage regulator to my 1992 dodge diesel. What I need to know is what size wire will I need? Where will they go?

If you are going to be putting it in, it can go where ever you want it to go. The one in my 91.5 is on the firewall directly over the valve covers.
The wiring is not that heavy. Without actually measuring, I would guess 16 ga., perhaps 14.

I did just what the tech article said to do.The local junk yard was going to see if any other ecm would work(like off a 1/2 ton).I pulled the VR off of a 1972 dodge that I have .

I don't have the diagram in front of me but I would think you need to disconnect the wires that go to the pcm that you are now connecting the VR to. Since the PCM isn't providing field excitation anymore you don't want it to be connected to the alternator anymore.
