This sensor is located to the right and be hind the throttle bracket. What effect ( if any) does this sensor have on our TPS ??? As ya'll know i'v been on here w/ OD problems. My radi. was low of coolant ( about 5 in.)filled it up had to drive 15 mi. to church,OD worked smoothly 50-65mph back & forth on throttle never a hitch. SO O O O O ,,,,whacha think'n,????

Sounds to me like you're looking at the intake air temperature sensor. The coolant temp sensor is in the back of the head. Driver side just in front of the firewall.

Coolant temp sensors can cause all kinds of issues. Low power and OD lockout is certainly a thought.........if the temp sensor is reading low coolant it could tell the trans to not load the system with OD.......however....it can also give no problems at all until it's too late.
On some Cummins engines a temp sensor that is not submerged in fluid (water) will read perfectly normal..........because it needs a liquid medium to give a reading at all. Some of these type sensors HAVE to be submerged in liquid to read at all.
Hope this helps.

I could be wrong but doesn't the temp sensor on the transmission hot line control o/d? There is a water to trans fluid heat exchanger on the block that could have been affected by the low coolant. Maybe the sensor saw high fluid temp and locked it out of o/d? I know it locks out when the fluid is too cold but not sure about hot.

My owners book ( it was in the glove box when I bought the truck) shows it as " engine coolant sensor". It is in a heck of a place to get at,when it quits raining the next couple days I 'll get a better look at the wireing. My OD worked fine both trips to day at all speeds. ( 91.5 d250)
