EGT's
I got my new EGT gauge installed tonight, I will probably take crap on here for it since it's electric but it is autometer and was $190, It's grounded straight to battery.
Anyways my truck has a DennyT pin, unknown amount of fuel screw but it has been tweaked, stock timing, stock gov. spring, and the star wheel is down a few turns....Has HX35 with a 12cm and the wastegate actuator is wide open......Also has stock intake but a 4" after DP exhaust with a muffler.
At 70 in 5th on the highway, if i nail it , it doesn't take long for it to hit like 1400. Haven't seen 1500 yet.
I see about 1300 on a strong pull in 4th.
do these numbers sound high? the 93 runs the same number with fuel screw maxed and same turbo and all but the wastegate is welded shut.
I'm only getting like 27-29 PSI of boost MAX, never seen 30.
Is it possible the wastegate is letting boost out without me hearing it? the Guy before me that put it on said he never messed with it, just left it unhooked.
I have a feeling these numbers are too high and boost is too low. I'm towing heavy tomorrow in PA mountains and am kinda shaky, i thought they'd be like 1200 max.

It has a custom welded intercooler i am starting to point towards that.
I verified the wastegate is not welded shut because i was opening it with the air nozzle coming out of my air compressor but i had to set it at like 60 psi for it to move.
I did try to wire it shut though, seemed to work...took it for a ride and found no difference.

Pull the intercooler and cap the ends with a valve stem in one cap. Then pressurize it to 10psi and start spraying some soapy water. Or listen for leaks if one's that big.

Crossy, my 92 with just a ground stock pin will get to hot towing. I can get to 1300. Still have the crappo 21 so that does not help move much air. My tamper cap is still on the pump. It does not take much fuel to get things hot.

Those numbers look right to me. Also, an internal gate doesn't make any sound when it opens.

Brandon, the best way I've found to find leaks is to run your engine at idle, and spray a shot of ether on any area you suspect has a leak. The idle will jump a little if you have a leak. It usually takes a few seconds for the ether to make it to the intake, so just do a shot every 10 seconds or so and see what you get.

I think he has an external gate, judging by the 'wiring it shut' comment.

Well i just went up and got my snow plow off the previous owner, and he told me alot more about it he forgot last time.
It has 60hp diesel dynamics injectors in it he put it in 2002, he said the fuel screw is in exactly 1 turn and the AFC was all stock.
He said he has the old stock injectors, if he finds them he will ship them to me. He didnt turn them in as cores.
