I wouldn't call that normal...
A stock truck usually peaks out around 900 degrees. Highway cruise will be between 650 and 750 depending on speed, wind, load, etc.
Anything under 1200 is safe indefinitely, above that you need to be quick about it because bad things happen fast.
My truck will pin the 1600 degree pyro before 4th gear is wound out. I do NOT suggest that this is normal or healthy behavior.

Just running down the road empty at 65-70, mine run 800-900, put the fully loaded trailer behind me and they go to 1000-1100...peak I have seen so far was 1250 and that scared me enough to get out of the throttle quick..

93 with mods in my sig won't go over 1000 with the pedal to the floor,
from a dead stop, no traction and shiftin' at like 3500 max is still 1000...
i got the gauge ground right to the battery, and probe is on the rear 3 cylinders.

I can get 1450 playing around. And thats with all my mods too. Prolly need to step it up a touch and intercool it. Towing a steep hill is 1100 and 25psi of boost with 15k behind me

mine is intercooled, would a ps ic be alot better in coolin the egts, with my power screw turned in 3 turns, fuel pin to deep side and smoke screw 2 turns what could i expect my egts to be. i havent done the power screw yet cause i dont have a guages, just tryin to see if they will be to high when i do
