Dumb turbo?

Ok keep in mind I am a newby here. Can you bolt a 12cmWG from an HX35 onto my turbo H1C?

Yes, that is a common upgrade. The downpipe will need to be moved back an inch or so (the wg housing is longer than non-wg) and you will need a boost reference source for the wg to function.

Ok thanks. I had read that the exhaust needed moved, that seems easy enough. Just wasn't sure if the hot side bolted on.
What would the compresor sizes be on a H1C, WH1C, and HX35.

From Gillette Diesel's webpage (http://www.gdsdieselparts.com/new_page_2.htm), the H1C (89-91) has 50mm compressor, the WH1C (91.5-93) has a 54mm compressor, and the HX35 has a 56mm compressor.

WH1C is second gen stuff. All the first gens have H1C's. 89-91.5 is 50mm and 91.5-93 is 54mm. No MWE's or Wastegates.

the intake opening has a slot cut in it the full circumference of the compressor wheel about midway through its depth. it prevents compressor stall or "surge/flutter" in high fuel, low rpm, high load situations. It allows boost pressure to be *recirculated* back through the compressor in the event it doesn't have anywhere to go. The MWE slot allows this air to recirculate mid pinwheel rather than blast all the way out the front of the compressor aka surge/stall. It produces a louder turbo sound when it does this as well.

Question? I had called HTT awhile back and I was told that the 350's had a larger compressor wheel. Is there any truth to that are not. I said about getting the stage III and he told me that for the one ton I should go with the stage IV because I already had a large compressor wheel. I just was curious if there is any truth to that or not.

It just depends on what version. There's an array of compressor/turbine wheels. Most common I believe is the 57mm wheel. There's also 62 and 64mm etc. I think the Super B is the S200 turbine wheel (Can't remember what size it is) With the 57mm comp wheel. Someone else will chime in...

I believe 90FirstGen has it right. I dont know of any 350's that came with a different turbo on it. Of course, that is just what I was told.

Ryan, even if it is a bigger wheel (57 is the absolute largest it could be) you still don't have MWE slots. Stage III=MWE slots and 60mm, so I don't see how you could go wrong. The stage IV is also 60mm but has a more efficient wheel design, supposedly.

Correctumundo! It has a higher trim. AKA more lbs./min. at higher boost levels than the stage 3, 60mm.
