To do a Ramcharger tank, there are 2 crossmembers on the frame in the Ramcharger for the front and rear of the tank (where the straps hook into) that you MUST use. There is also a crossmember in the pickup frame that MUST be removed. (between the rear spring hangers) There are also 2 notches that must be cut in the reinforcement across the bottom of the bed.
(it's just a box section) I just used the pocket assy out of the Ramcharger for the filler.
All the holes are in the Pickup frame, however, the rivets are a pain to remove! (Especially in a self serve yard!) I just used quality bolts to put it all back together
My tank held 36 gallons from bone dry.
Removing the crossmember from my truck was the only thing that scared me, however, the 2 crossmembers that get put back in make it much stronger.

Here is a link to my blog where I changed out the rear cross members for the rc tank. I did not tackle the rivets in the yard. I brought home the whole back section of the frame. Love my cordless sawsall.

Nice job Trooperthorn! I wish I had documented all the work I did to my truck. I had completely forgotten about that 3rd crossmember!
A cordless sawzall! Now I know what to ask for for Christmas!

If you ran the second stock tank, why couldn't you just put a heat shield between the exhaust and tank? It might take using a short-bed tank, though. Just think, if you could do that and put in the Ramcharger tank, hold 70 or 90+ gallons of fuel....

69 gallons
i ran my straight pipe through the rear fender skirt, and out board of the frame, exiting in front of the rear wheel, looks and sounds good, but over time gets that rear wheel "sooty". the room inside the frame allowed for a 36 gallon tank i custom welded including cutouts around frame supports, i can go close to 1000 miles before i need to start looking for fuel, on long trips. i routed the filler to the drivers side in the fender well, and can fill both at the same side. i can say after fueling, and topping off the camper with water, food, and ice, it drives noticeably heavy.

GLHS- that was a version of I believe the Omni. The engineers wanted to build a fast car and Iacocca told them they could if they used a current production vehicle, so they came up with the GLH, which Goes Like H3!!. When they improved it, they re-named it the GLHS, which Goes Like H3!!, Summore.
