DSS Steering Brace for 1st Gen!!!

How many of us have 1st Gens with either broken or replaced mounting brackets for the steering box? My '93 (according to the previous owner) has had the box replaced twice and needs it again. Of course it has a lift but more and more of these trucks are getting played with because they are becoming more affordable. I talked with Solid Steel Inc. this morning about this issue. First off these guys are EXTREMELY nice and willing to work with us. When asked about building a DSS for our trucks he stated that he has only received about 6 requests for these units. He also stated that he can build them, but typically the truck doesn't require them. Because our front ends are tougher than the 2nd Gen. SS agreed with me when I told them about the increased number of lifted 1st Gens and off road applications for them. I also informed SS about the frame/bracket issues with the design. SS responded by saying if they could get orders for about 100 of the DSS for the 1st Gen they would build them. It is a cost thing for them and ultimately us. SS said building a few of these systems would be cost prohibitive to the consumer. Just to let you guys and gals know it is possible and if we order enough of them they will build them. Thanks to all who have helped me migrate to the REAL truck 1ST GEN'S ROCK... and bounce and bounce....

Yup,

I think I would be interested. I have a stock 93 that has a 5/16" plate sandwiched between the box and the chassis for reason I know not why. I assume the previous owner had some sort of problem with the box loosening up or the frame weakening.

SSI stated they would be the same as the 2nd gen... around $200.00, but they would have to see a market for them, which is 100 units.
