Driveshaft Length

So I have a 89 Non-IC w350 SRW with the 727 auto in it. In the process of building the trans and converting the truck to run the overdrive a518 trans. What I can't seem to find is the difference in length required to run the a518 as far as the front and rear driveshafts (mainly the rear, just to have the truck mobile. Front can be done at a later date.) Long story short, it is a REGULAR CAB with the 1 piece driveshaft and I am wondering if anyone knows just how much I would have to shorten it to run the a518? Driveshaft shop is closer than finding 1st gen parts around here so it would be quicker to just have the driveshaft shortened the appropriate length. Thanks in advance...Paul.

I don't have the truck in front of me and its still a running driving 727 truck as of right now, but when he drops it off we're looking for plug and play drive it home within 3 days like usual. I have the tailhousing from the 727 and the tailhousing from the 518 on my bench and the difference in length is 5.125." Wouldn't we just get the driveshaft shortened be said amount?

That is a question for the driveshaft shop they know best. I would think your assumption is right but I could be wrong.
