Dodge CTD factory prototype truck gets restored
#16
Yes, that is the truck. But correction on the location of sitting in storage. It was at a Cummins facility. That is the reason the truck still exists. Had it been Chrysler's facility, the truck would have been scrapped years ago.
Took MANY pics of it. Will work on getting them posted.
Was nice seeing you guys down there!

Ah, thanks for the clarafication.
What was the significance of the blue & silver D250 there? Dad said they had it at the '97 Rally but he couldn't remember.

I don't like the way they changed the engine around on this 'mule'. Originally it did not have the nonIC "Dodge Ram/CTD" crossover pipe on it or the same exhaust manifold center dump on it. The pics I've seen in the past, these were different. Also there was something not "89-93 Dodge" related on the fuel side of the engine.. early vacuum pump or the like?

Yes, the blue truck was 1st off the line.
As for D001, that is the original color. I have pics of the original truck circa 1985. I will post them when I finish uploading all the pics from the weekend. Although interesting to note the original block was blue....
As for the 1991 CPL in D001, there were 5 engines in that truck ranging from the original 0804 to the last thing it was used for, IC truck development. That engine is the last engine in that series that went into that truck. I wondered too. So I did some asking of the retired engineers.

Looking forward to the pics! Never knew the 6BTs were blue, although those red Freightliners looked pretty good.
Anybody know what the sticker was on the first 1st gens? The 3500 top of the line Rams they let us "test drive" was around $67K...
