Do it yourself bed liner suggestions?
I am going to be lining the bed of my 93 this coming July, with a do-it-yourself liner. I know the Rhino etc is better, but I can't afford it. Now, I am thinking of either using Durabak or Herculiner. Any difference between the two, as far as quality? Looks as if Durabak offers more color choices.

I used Herculiner black. It looks great, and didn't cost much. I needed 2 gallons, because I did my rockers as well as the bed, make sure whatever you get you do at least 2 coats. I plan on doing a 3rd here in the near future, also, do the bedrails, tailgate, and high wear areas at least 3 coats, otherwise it wears off from scuffing. Mine has held up well to mulch, gravel, and sand, and while a shovel will scrape off the areas with a light coat, it takes some good goudging to pull up the heavily coated areas. Whatever you do, do not use the cheap Dupli-Color stuff, it peels faster than my tires under WOT. Make sure you take your time, prep well, and sandblast or grind all the rust off before you paint it, then you'll never worry about it again.

A friend of mine once used Herculiner on his jeep tub. It looked and worked great, for a while. But he has gasoline spill inside the tub and it all went downhill from there. True, Line-X and Rhino is expneive but IMHO its worth saving up instead of spending the money now only to have to spend more later.

lol if you look in my sig, i've got a little ecperience with rhino... inside, outside, well just plain everywhere. i have my reasons for shooting the whole truck... as for the do it yourself... well any of them really. i used to shoot for a rhino shop. it's ALLLL in the prep work. they may bond differently to the material but with crappy prep rhino will peel just like the DIY stuff. take the time and do it right and you should have any problems to speak of. the only thing i can't comment on is the gasoline spill... that will not effect rhino i know that, can't speak for the DIY kits. prep well, and wipe the whole thing down really well with acetone to get the remaining bits of moisture out from under it.
