Do these egt's sound right

The previous owner of my truck had the isspro egt probe mounted in the downpipe. Today, I picked up an isspro screw in probe and mounted it pre-turbo. On the freeway in od doing 90 my egt's were only 875 F. I was under the assumption that they would be a little higher. I realize that with a load or going up a hill would give a higher reading but, not sure exactly what it should be. The only mods to the truck are as follows; k&n filter and removed stock airbox, muffller isn't stock and goes into dual 3" pipes out the rear, and the pump has been tweaked a little bit. All that I can say about the pump is that I have turned the smoke screw in 2 turns and the truck currently makes 22psi. I've got some POD's sitting in the garage and wanted to have an accurate pyrometer before I install them. Sorry for the long post!

If you are still running the stock injectors then I'd say those temps are right in the normal range for your setup.

Once the POD's go in, you'll see an increase to be sure. You can 'moderate' that a bit by increasing your pump timing a bit too.

Just remember that the generally accepted and often quoted max temp is,... 1250*F pre-turbo for extened running.
Short excursions above that can be tolerated so long as it is not extended running, and you allow it cool down really well afterward.
I was told that 1350*F for 1 minute out of 5 is acceptable, and once you hit 1500*F stand by for a re-enactment of the famous event....Chernyobl

Bob.

When I'm at W.O.T. (75-80, no overdrive), my 90 is consistant at 950*. When cruising at 65-70, I'm at least 100* less. You sound normal.

Re:Do these egt's sound right

i usually run about 550-600* at 75mph empty. my pump is probably only about 1 turn up, timing is up a bit, and I've got the 16cm^2 housing. I've never seen mine go above 900*, even pulling a 28' car trailer up 6% grades. I have the stock injectors, and I'm reading pre turbo.
