DIY Fuel Pin vs. $200.00 pin
Aftermarket fuel pin is kinda pricey, I understand that the 200.00 dollar cost is probably all in manufacturing costs. Is there a detailed set of instructions someplace in your toolbox/backpocket(for those that have grinded down, chiseled, etc.) that decribes, again in detail, of how to do this with the stock pin? Pics would be a big treat! Also, if you all feel that looking back, you would have rather have spent the big bucks and got the fuel pin, let me know, too. Thank you. Carmyne

I have not made a custom pin from blank stock, so I can't comment there. I am one of the many who have done some grinding on a stock pin. There's a pic in my gallery. There's definitely a seat of the pants difference when the turbo lights. I'd guess it was worth 10-15 rwhp. A stock pin can't be ground to the physical depth of an aftermarket/blank stock pin---the material simply is not there. Still, it's a pretty good bang for the no-buck mod.

No experience with a vendors pin, but with our trucks we always have something that needs attention either from normal use/old age or the bomb bug which all this equals $$$. I am happy with my ground stock pin. I say put the $200 somewhere else. One of these days I will take a few pics of a stock pin vs. a ground stock pin. All you need is a pic of the vendors pin, and follow that idea. 1/4" die grinder and or Dremel tool makes EASY work of this.

I put in the $200 dollar pin for $175. The only regret is what BullyDog did to Smokey. I wasn't aware that he developed the pin and they stole the design. But for a performance edge,,,,,,,,,,,, Yeah Baby!!! I didn't have to worry about overgrinding my junk. I still have the old one if anyone needs it.
