Dif gen bed on 1st gen

I'm looking at trying to swap a 2nd or 3rd gen bed onto a first gen. How difficult is this? Is it just a matter of attaching bedmounts for the correct gen bed to the frame or is it much more complicated?

Because I'm hving an extremelyyy difficult time finding a clean 1st gen short box in Wisconsin. I'd keep the mounts for the 1st gen box and keep looking and eventually switch it back. I was just curious

2nd gen bed on a 1st gen: They look god awful.

I'm not a big flatbed guy either. My boss's 2nd gen looked stupid with a flatbed. But I think 1st gens (and any old Chevy or Ford for that matter) look much better... if not GOOD with flatbeds. Especially with a good headache rack and some truck boxes ahead of the rear wheels with some mud flaps.

I am not a flatbed fan either but I think it would look better than the wrong bed.

But to all ther own. If you want to do it, do it. Ya im a hick but even I know better than that to do something like you say to my po ol dodge!!!?

What are you building? Why do you need a Short Box? And I don't know about the flatbed statments. I kinda think they are sexy, but I'm a little bisased.
If it were me and I had to find another short bed, I think I'd run it with no bed til I found one. There was a thread on here with a few trucks that differant generation beds on them and I felt sorry for those old trucks. But as others have said; to each their own. If that's the way you want it then it's your truck. I couldn't even give you an Idea of how much work it would be. I'm sure it would just be tail light wiring and finding a way to either lower or raise the bed mounts and maybe relocate them a little or drill the frame for new bolt holes.
Which ever way you go Good Luck

yeah the main reason i dont want to run it with no bed at all is im in the Air Force and im currently stationed in Guam, and im having the truck shipped here, my friends and father are picking the truck up for me and doing the bodywork and paint(one of my friends works at a paint shop) and then shes getting sent here and ill do the susp lift(which cant be done before it ships) and the engine mods and stuff like that. but basically if i do get it here without a bed its gunna be ridiculously expensive to ship a bed here. so right now im searching and hoping i can find a clean 1st gen short box for her. ive got one lead hopefully it goes through. ad removed

Durango sorry no pics. Im stuck up here in the great northland till about the first of september. Im only about 3000 miles away from my poor dodge sittin back in idaho. when I get home Ill show some pics. By the way I love how my truck looks w/ the 4'' lift and 35's. replaced front and reer springs w/ skyjacker springs. Rides so much better.

Don't worry fury it's not being done. I'm holding out for a 1st gen cab. I saw what the 2nd and 3rs gen beds looked like on it and it's not pretty
