Detremental effects?
Does anybody know if tuning the VE pump can actually shorten the life or damage or cause catastrophic failure to the actual IP itself? I'm talking about a turn or two on the fuel screw, rotating the fuel pin, adjusting the wheel, and the low press spring screw. Not grinding or welding anything, just maximizing what Bosch produced.
I just sent my 8mo old BD Diesel 230hp VE pump back to them with what feels to me like a internally broken input shaft. They were a little queasy on the phone about the warranty when I let them know I had tuned it.
Also, if you know of any bulletins, or carry any related certifications, please state so with response info. I'm no VE expert by any means, so I'd like to see what you guys, as a collective think.

My theory is if they should not be adjusted or tuned they would not put the adjusting screw or bolts on the pumps. Also they (Bosch themselves) would not sell upgrade parts such a gov. springs. However with a aftermarket pump I would think that you would have to go by the warranty guide lines set by the company or manufacture.

Its not going to hurt anything but Maybe your warranty, Just like any other pump shop if you change how they have it set they may not honer your warranty. I cant see any of the mods we do hurting any thing but to them that's not the point. Good luck.

The statement above is correct. Also, the more stress you put on a pump with full fuel screw, etc. DOES technically increase wear and tear, but ONLY at situations of full fuel, not cruising down the hiway etc. so pump tweaks prolly best not be used in a genset application or water pump for corn fields because those run at 100% power all day long.
