Dash Paint
Any suggestions on what brand and kind of paint to use on my dash and trim pieces? I know there are specific paints made for plastic trim, just wondering what you guys have found that works well.

Doesn't matter too much... Just make sure you prep the surface really well. Also a few thin coats before your wet coat will allow the paint to stick better. I've done multiple dash boards using dupli-color and a few walmart brand paint.

I just cleaned mine very well and used plastic primer on it. I think regular primer would probably work fine too, really, and after that point any usual painting rules apply.
I only did like a coat and a half of red rustoleum on mine. The texture still shows, and it hasn't cracked at all from flexing, but it is easy to scratch through it. Ideally I think I'd give it enough coats to cover up the fake leather texture... it'd look better and wouldn't scratch through as easily. Plus you could touch it up easily if you were only going for a smooth surface.

i wouldn't use that much primer that you would eliminate the faux leather surface. The other thing i'd like to point out, if you use any sort of primer at all it will scratch easily, but it will look better, and mostly stick better all around. My solution to this was to not use the primer, but to use the actual color as a primer with 4 or 5 supper thin coats and then two medium coats and 1 finish coat. just my .02 but its all up to you... this time a year isn't the best unless u have a well ventilated, heated garage.
