I am looking for a dash guage pod for an 84 D-100. I would really like to have a pillar pod b/c i like the looks and I have a couple laying around from the old '90 but they will not work b/c the pillar is different. If I was to buy a 3 guage dash pod for a 1st gen, would it work on an 84? All the ads that sell them say 86-93. I haven't had the two trucks side by side but I can't see any difference in a 84 and 90 as far as the dash goes.

I guess I could always trim a little to make it fit, but just wondering if anyone knows if its the same thing or not.

I don't know if they will work or not, however; to my knowledge, they only make a two gauge pod for the a-pillar on first gens.

 

I bought the 94-98 3 pod dash mount from summit. I then cut off there mounting bracket and ground the bottm edge so it fit nicely on my dash. Then made my own mounts and it's perfect. There might be pics in my photo gallery.

 

Yea there is a picture in your gallery. I might do something like that. How does that dash pod mount though? Does it have little ears that you screw to the dash? I have never seen one in person, just in pictures. Everyone I know with diesels has the pillar mount.

Yes, I took two small pieces of aluminum angle and screwed it to the dash and pod on each side.
