My current project is suspension and wheel studs, then it's probably going to get a lock rite or the likes....
As for a 70 carrier working in an 80, that would be a 70HD, it has the same carrier as an 80, only with smaller bolt holes for the ring gear. The standard 70 carrier is a different piece.
