dana 70 limited slip axle code?
I can't get the search to work here and I tried some Googling but didn't find the answer there.
Does anyone know the code for a limited slip dana 70?
There is a DRE on the sticker under the hood. Oh yeah, it's a 93 d250/getrag, not the truck in the sig
Thanks for any help

I've got the same year D250, which I bought new and unless the rear diff was swapped out it is a Dana 70.
There should be a tag on the back plate with the info you are looking for.
Do a search for Quad 4X4 out of Roberts Mt. Go to their on line catalog they have a list in the Dodge parts section. That will give you a list of the D70 P/Ns these will start with 6 and will be a 6 digit number followed by the code LS.

I guess I should be more clear. I'm selling the truck and a potential buyer wants to know the ratio (which is 3.55) and if it's limited slip or not.
I'm not sure on the limited slip part so I'm trying to figure that out.
Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the reply.

The tag on the rear diff will tell you the info you need to know for the buyer.
BTW I don't think they built any Diesel powered '93s without Dana 70 LS.
The last 6 digits of the VIN are the build numbers which will tell you exactly what components went on that particular vehicle.

Pull the diff cover. The gear ratio, and all the differential information is located on the outer edge of the ring gear. If you ever need parts, such as spider gear kits, etc, that alpha numeric number on the gear is what you will need to order them.
Mine is here. The spec number for my axle is T39287 I called DTS, and they had any part I wanted, and all the specs on the diff with that number

Be careful doing the following, do it on level ground. jack up the rear end, get both wheels in the air. With truck in nuetral and parking brake off....spin one wheel by hand. Note the wheel on the other side. If it spins in the same direction its limited slip. If it spins in opposite direction its an open diff.

I would rather spend 10 mins in the shop figuring it out myself.
Rather then try to de-code a build sheet / vin code /missing or rusted tags, on a truck that MAY NOT even have the same axle under it that it left the factory with.
It works great and while your there lube the U-joints and adjust the rear brakes….

theres a number on the upper passenger side if I remember right, and it will give a "bom" build of material spicer identification, get the number and google search "spicer bom" pirate 4x4 and lots of other axle builders have the info published.

If you count the # of time the drive shaft to tires spin you can figure out the gearing with that jack up and spin the tires trick too.
Faster and cleaner than pulling the diff. cover to check the #s on the ring gear.

This is true, but then you wouldn't have the fun of lying on your back getting that smelly oil all over your clothes...
You guys like to take the easy way out.....
What next ? scribe chalk lines on the tire and driveshaft and count the revolutions of each one ? You guys are too much...
