Dana 60 front inner axle seals

Hi,
Changing them as we speak. Of course its all apart and I have the old ones ruined to get them out. The new ones (cross referenced to chrysler, dana/spicer etc) are too big by about 1/6th of an inch on the case. Axle seals fit.

Anybody have similar issues? If so, whats the part # of the new seal.
Thanks.

Update:

I didnt cross reference any of the numbers here, i just got back from the parts store, but the seals looked like the chevy style bell kinda weird lookin things. Didnt notice that part when i first pulled out the seal part of it, looked like it was part of the inner tube.

You want only a seal with the bell , face out side of truck , this is so that when you push the axial back in , it rides up the bell , so as to not damage the seal .
Home made install tool , allthread & washers to push against the oppocent side to push in evenly .

so what ended up being the correct part number? I've got the national 470682's in hand but i want to make sure its right before i take it all apart. Also, any tips on installing them? I've got to take the carrier out right? And hows the best way to get the axles out?

I dont have the exact part number, the correct part is the seal with the bell on it. Funny lookin stuff, but it saves the seal when you jam the axle back in.

You have to pull everything off to get the axles out, and you need some sort of tubing long enough to fit through the axle tube to pound the seals back in. I used 3/4" piece of pipe i had layin around. Its a PITA. Just make sure you get em in straight.

Edit: The pic is gone, dont know what happened to it.

I got mine from Offroad Design www.offroaddesign.com they aren't listed on their site. I was ordering some parts from them and got them to throw the seals in too.

If you try the local part store, tell them you need seals for an 80's 1 ton chevy front axle The seals are the same.

Hope this helps.
