D70 U-joint straps to ubolts?
Anybody try drilling the holes to the u-joint strap bolts and running the u-bolt style instead?? I am thinking about this on a Dana 70 yoke for added strength and wanted to save some time at the parts desk. Thanks

You can get the steel billet "U" bolt straps for the 1350/1410 yokes. That's what I'm using. On the "U" bolts you do have to be careful you don't over tighten the "U" bolts on the caps because you can distort them & cause premature failure.

hey-Hey!!!,
I put a U-bolt'd yoke on my rebuilt 3.07 rear. I got a forged one from Riverside Gear v. the usual( and less expensive) cast type. Couldn't be happier. I have a very low opinion of the bolts with 5/16" heads on them.
cheers,
Douglas

I swapped mine to cab screws because, I work in a machine shop where everything is a cap screw, and you can actually tighten/loosen it with a socket. I would like to go with U-bolts like I did on the D-60 though.
Off topic, but I put cap screws on my Injection pump top cover too. I was sick of using a flat head screw driver and having it slip. This proves to be MUCH better. I'm really starting to like those things!
