Cylinder Head...
I'm just preparing myself for the worst...but...
What does it normally cost for a head gasket?
What about rebuilding the head?
Any secrets or any tricks to getting the head off easier, or more efficiently?
I'm worried that I'm going to have to pull the head and inspect for damage, just want to know what it might set me back in my wallet.

Well, IT really isn't that much. I had the valves done on my head when I had it off and with the works, it was about $150. Parts rand about another $200. Did all the R&R myself so that part was free. Saved some in fuel cost during that time as well.
Seriously, it's not that difficult or expensive.

I'm in the middle of doing mine right now. Blown head gasket.
gasket set from cummins was about $160.
another $35 to hot tank &flux the head
did the r&r myself also- shop quoted me about $800 just in labor!!
pretty easy job- got mine off in about three hours.
It is heavy. A cherry picker or hoist would make life a lot easier, but I got mine out alone with only my armstrong hoists
I'll let you know how it goes back together on friday.

What gaskets does it come with? I have a fresh set of valve cover gaskets. I guess I'll just need a head gasket, manifold gasket & intake gasket?
