Cycling AC switch

I've taken the advise of the great board here to get my air conditioning blowing colder now that summers coming.

I pulled the copper temp sensor most of the way out of the AC tube near the fire wall and it's blowing colder now. The issue is, is that sometimes its so cold you could get a headache and other times it's just so-so. The so-so times when I shut off the AC switch on the dash I cannot hear the rpm or the sound change so I'm assuming it still acts up and the compressor is not on.

Other times when it's blowing freezing cold I can hear the difference when I turn off the ac on the dash. Something is amiss still causing the compressor not to cycle sometimes.

Any suggestions? and if so what would be the fix procedure? What needs to be replaced/looked at?

thanks,

If there is any moisture in your refrigerant it will work different daily. Have it put under a vacuum maybe?

It may be so cold that the evap is icing up. This will limit airflow through the evap and give the impression of cooling loss.
