cruise control issue/aftermarket

We hooked up an Audiovox cruise unit on the '89 auto and the top speed on cruise at first was 46mph, after tweaking, I only got to 60 when I removed all slack from the linkage and moved the bracket to get a better pull angle. It acts like it's at it's max travel and won't go any more.

Rather than go crazy on soultions, do y'all think the 3200rpm spring will help, I'm inclined to see if that helps top speed and gives the cruise a better ability to hold a higher speed, I thought I saw where the 3200 spring changed the pedal position at cruise speeds, etc.

?

I am not an expert in the 3200 GS. I have a Aftermarket cruise on my vehicle. I believe it was made by bosch... The question I would have is if you can go faster without the cruise than when the cruise is set, then I believe your problem is with the cruise and how far it is pulling the throttle. I don't believe changing the GS will affect that. I believe all the GS does is allow higher RPM at full throttle before defuel occurs.

With the 3200 RPM spring it takes less pedal travel for any given speed. Your new top speed in cruise should be around 70 - 75, but you will not be able to hold that on a steep hill.

It sounds as if the cruise unit is does not have enough travel to allow more throttle. When the cruise is maxed, can you still get more travel out of the go pedal, or is it maxed out? If you have more pedal travel after the cruise is maxed, you have to figure out how to get the cruise to use the full pedal travel.
