And spraying any kind of a solvent in the vacuum line can wash the oil off the vanes in the vacuum pump and may cause an early demise. The handy little brake bleeder/vacuum tester found the vacuum leak on my brake booster and on the vacuum hose off the pump in about twenty minutes and $175.00 later.

[QUOTE=Floorit4x4;1284634]or take a little carb cleaner fluid and start spraying and when you hear a change in the engine sound your close
That's funny.
Wannadiesel put it very nicely, IMHO.
Diesels don't make vacuum; that's why they have vacuum pumps.
Hey, at least you learned something Floorit.

Floorit, maybe your 1st diesel should've been a 1st gen., where you could have been made more familiar with the workings of a mechanical style engine, instead of your 3rd gen.

Mostly. Anything to do with the drivetrain is different.

Well, thanks for the help guys. I think that you were right, it was a vaccum leak. Some of the small hoses after the brake cylinder were dry and cracked where they were fastened, and some did not have clamps. I think that I sealed the leak, wherever it was. I tried the cruise out and it worked great!

One question, what is the small thing in the fender that one of the vaccum lines goes to?

I suppose that if there was a kit, hose would still be much cheaper!
