Crossover steering little lift

So finally pulled the truck in and started the crossover steering project after acquiring parts for ~8 months. Of course the last part I ordered recently, the double adjuster from poly performance came last Thursday and they forgot the adjustment sleeve. Which now won't be here until this Thursday, which really ticks me off that they wouldn't overnight the missing part to me. Needles to say I won't be too inclined to purchase anything from them in the future.

And for front springs installed are the skyjacker 2.5" diesel softride springs, everything else is stock. Also I moved the box to the 2wd location, already had the borgeson shaft also.

Anyways list of parts:

dana 60 steering arm from partsmike.com, happens to be 6.5" CL-CL, same as the
WJ pitman arm.
1.5" OD x 1" ID DOM tubing
chevy 1 ton TRE's
Weld in 7/8" x 18 ends for the tubing
and of course the previously mentioned double adjuster:
http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/...-p-19276.html#

So pictures, it fits but it is pretty tight. Also since I am concerned about loosing the sway-bar in the process I installed a set of timbrens I took off my ford donor truck for the fummins.

I'm guessing that is EMT being used for mock up. I noticed the crease in the bend and started looking harder.

Looks Good

Got a few questions

How much offset do you have in the DOM ?

Whats CL of the offset ?

The pitman arm is that off the shelf or re engineered ?

Last and final ah heck probably more whats the measurement in between top of spring and bottom of frame at TRE ?

Mine doesn't have a sway bar on it at all and still handles like a dream, I'm pretty sure only 92-93's came with them.

Only thing that scares me about crossover steering is If you have any side to side movement in the axle at highway speeds it will pull the steering all over, A panhard bar will cure this problem though. 90's F350's have them.

I got my 1st taste of it when I rode in 1bad93's 6" Lifted 93 W250 with Crossover steering.

Does cross over steering make the truck drive so much better it is like night and day deference????
And then will you say what was I thinking I should have done this first.

Way better!

Mine steers like it did in 2wd.

I noticed a bit of steering pull when the springs move side to side.

I think it's nature of the beast. nothing is loose, you can't expect the 2.5" wide leaf springs to hold the whole truck from moving side to side. Stock trucks probably do it but because of the steering design you don't feel it.

haha yeah that is just some 1" conduit i'm using for mock-up, it is cheaper if I cut it too short than the DOM.

I haven't bent the DOM yet, also not exactly sure where I want to put the bend. I notice Meiser has his bend near the middle, I am thinking I would like to put it towards the end attached to the pitman arm.

The pitman arm is modified with a larger taper and the alignment keys removed. I did both alignment keys removed with a file and I have a reamer for the 1 ton chevy TRE's.

I will have to measure again the distance between the spring and the bottom of the TRE but I think it is around 2".

Crossy, I live 15 miles up a canyon, so I am more concerned about the sway bar than if I lived in town. But we shall see, I hope I don't miss it!

I could see the crossover steering moving the truck side-side with a 6" lift, and being somewhat scary without a panhard bar. My 89 ford has a panhard bar and has crossover style steering factory. Something to think about. With this setup and basically no lift springs, the steering rod is basically flat so I don't think it will be a big issue. Hopefully the other people here that have done this aren't lying about how much better the truck steers!

It looks like your pitman arm should go a tad higher on the box shaft, might need to massage the splines on the pitman arm alittle more.
