I look forward to hearing about your Re/Re.

Darn nuts and bolts!!!

Well I got an E-mail from McMaster - Carr today stating that because I live in Canada they will not send me the nuts and bolts I want.

Seems that even though I was to have them shipped to my USA address, and then bring them across the border myself...that this somehow violates all kinds of international trade laws etc. Since the final destination is Canada.

They sent me a lot of info as to why they can not process my order, and I'm sure it's all legit...but come on Nuts and Bolts?? If I was to purchase these items through a business within Canada then they could accommodate my order.

So after a friggin week I still have no nuts or bolts to assemble my frame!!

You use Fastenal in Langley? I tried the one in Abbotsford, but they were having a hard time finding the 1/2" x 20 grade 8 flange head bolts, and matching nuts.

I buy tons of stuff from the US, and have it shipped to my US address, then bring it across myself....been doing this for over 20 years now. This is the first time a company has stated international trade laws as a reason to not sell me stuff.

Oh well guess I'll be on the phone all day tomorrow trying to find someone local-ish to me who can get me the fasteners I need.

Fastenal supplies us at work with grade 8 and 9 stuff and I think the guy comes out of the Langley location. The only pita about them is sometimes although the website shows stock they have to order it in.

That's nuts Or...
Crazy, I can drive 3 miles and buy them by the pound bolts nuts washers as long as they are the same grade just throw them all in the same bag.

Well I hopefully have the right fasteners on there way!

I went across the border to my Local USA Napa. The older woman who is an amazing parts person....was able to help me out. She called her supplier...Fastenal in the US....and they had the stuff I needed in WA state. Should be here tomorrow, Thursday at the latest.

You got that right...wish I had gone to Napa first thing...would have had them by now, and frame done and ready to re-assemble the front suspension.

Ohh well a long road and lessons, and knowledge learned along the way.
