Crew Cab Build!
#47
Hey guys , I've got some updates on the build. I hate that I don't have more for ya'll, it's moving along though. I'm going to be removing the rest of the engine as soon as I get the hoist for my tractor built. Then remove the cab and start prepping the frame for paint. I hope the pics show up correctly!

Keep us posted and good work..........its amazing how we lose momentum on these builds!!! Was going like gangbusters on mine and had to walk away for awhile. Dash is in, doors have to be straightened and primed and she should be ready for paint.

LOL, yea the doors are quite short. Only thing about this garage that is adequate is the height and it doesn't do a whole lot of good when the doors are as short as these are. Also, I had to cut a little off the back end so the door would shut. I've done more with less though. This is the first time I've had a garage for a build. So I'm quite grateful for that! Eventually I will put in some taller roll up doors. Thanks for the comments! I hope to have more soon!

Well, unfortunately there has been very little progress, but good news is that I just got my last "must get finished" finished! So I have let the girlfriend/fiance know that it's My Time and absolutely no more projects for anyone else till the crew is done. Man, when you know how to weld and fabricate people come out of the wood work with STUFF they need fixed. Especially father in laws, lol!
I am glad you asked about the project. I am going to need ya'lls help with a few decisions. The big one is rust on the front drip rail and in the top of the windshield recess. Its bad enough when I was scraping the old sealent off the screw driver went through the sheetmetal. Its really the ONLY rust on the whole truck, but its enough to ruin a good mood. I have another truck I could cut the drip rail and top recess out of and weld in place of the rusted one. If anyone has a better idea please throw it out there. Also, I have to start working on painting the frame, sound proofing the cab, and deciding which tranny to use. I have a very used 4x4 getrag with np205 and a 2wd A518. The truck is going to be 4x4 so...? Just kinda wanted to hear ya'lls thoughts and opinions. If ya have questions just ask. Thanks! I'll try to get some pics up soon!

Do as you are thinkin on the drip rail. Thats what I did, (but it wasn't my drip rail mine was rotted above the drip rail on the roof, guy had some cb anntenas mounted there and it rotted through.
Build the rag. I think in the long run it would be cheaper than using the auto and finding the divorced t-case and building all of the cross members and drive lines.
But that's just me, I like to shift gears and think smoke shows are cool!
Good luck
Justin
