Cool Crankshaft Sensor

I am trying to find on my manual how to get to the crankshaft sensor to replace on my 1993 D250 extended cab 5 speed...wire broke have new sensor just have to put in for tach to work ..any ideas or stickies on step by step..or page number on manual? spent hours trying to find it but no luck so far
Also would that not working affect the performance of the engine as far as advance or?

TIA

It's on the front of the engine pointed at the harmonic balancer. Kind of a bugger to get at with big arms.

It would be easier .. they are not a real problem to change just a pita IIRC the gap is .050 and I think i used two thickness of milk jug cut out like a feeler gauge so it didn't stick
