Hmmm, i have a shaker hood and air cleaner assembly from a 74 gto. Would be interesting indeed. It might be a tad small. I may set it on the old truck and see.

Do you have a blower sitting on it? Is it a 500 CU crate motor? I have a 68 impala SS with a 396 cu, 325 hp (numbers matching) under the hood. The car is so big though that it looks kind of small down there. When my house down here in Mexico is finally done, that is my next restoration project...Mark

That depends on if you have enough engine to require one of them......... Ain't no way my Nova would have a hood without one of them.
"Slightly over stock"
But yea, without a huge by large big block under it, they are fugly.

Have you ever noticed that spider/bug clinging to your hood as you go rolling down the hi-way at 70 mph? Is that little spider stronger than 'Arnold' ... or is he just in a 'dead air space' as any wind tunnel test will attest? Hood scoops are for looks only unless they are high enough to get above that 2-5" non-turbulent 'dead air' that envelopes your moving vehicle.

And what about all the cold air packages on muscle cars of the 60s and 70s?

I have one of the 6-pack scoops mounted in reverse on my hood mainly for the removal of heat when off-road.
I can tell you that going down the highway at 50 mph and up the air being pushed into the scoop is significant. If I attempt to use the windshield washers the fluid is sucked right into the scoop at highway speeds.

How far above the hood level are the 'Pro Stock' type hood scoops? Why?
You should be able to find a wind tunnel video on U-tube .... with colored smoke. Hood scoops do work, if they are set-up properly. Most are just for looks.
Maybe that little spider on your hood is stronger than Mr. Schwarzenegger
