Coolant Question

I'm planning to service my cooling system soon, should I stick with
the green coolant or upgrade to Dex-Cool?

I know the green stuff is standard and works just fine, but is Dex-Cool better
or is it just a marketing hype?

Any will work as long as its an ethylene glycol based antifreeze, not proplylene glycol based antifreeze. Dex cool would be good if you towed often and or don't care to change out the coolant after 2 years/24k miles etc. Next time I do a flush, I'm gonna get some of that Cummins/Fleetguard premix BLUE antifreeze.

Make sure the cooling system is tight if you use Dexcool. If there is air getting in there, the Dexcool will corrode any aluminum parts (heater core and radiator on some models).

Yeah what Dave said, dexcool and trapped air = sludge/crud BIG time. I personally would`nt run dexcool for that fact alone, otherwise it`s and excellent coolant. You can use any coolant you want, but I would stick with something proven/recommended by Cummins. Unless that is you want to be a guinea pig like myself (I use Toyota Red, so far so good).
