Confusion about hooking up wastegate...

I have the 12cm W/G housing, and when I received it, the wastegate is already attached to the exhaust housing. Does this mean that it will work as is?? If not, can someone explain to me exactly how to get to work?? I am a turbo so as simple as possible would be great. I am looking into the manual boost controller, but I'm not sure I hae enough fuel to push my psi up that high yet. I have read a bunch of posts so far, but I'm not getting it

It will work just like it is you just have to plumb boost pressure to the actuator. You can hook it up to any place that you get boost. The easiest way is to plumb it into the compressor side if the turbo. There is a bung near the outlet of the compressor that is made for tapping and put a 1/8 NPT with 1/4" line barbed fitting and routing a line to the actuator. The boost pressure pushes on the diaphragm in the actuator and pushes the rod that opens a cover that allows some of the exhaust to bypass the turbine wheel and slows it down thereby limiting the drive pressure and limiting the boost.

I prefer to get the boost signal from the manifold, but on a non-intercooled truck it doesn't matter.

I figure keeping it simple (little hose as possible) would be better achieved going around to the intake side of the turbo, but I can see where Dave is coming from.

ALso, try it without the gate- you may not need the wastegate just yet. It's pointless to hook up the gate if you only make 25psi peak boost.
