command start question

Hi everyone,ok here is my issue.I bought a compustar command start alarm system and am having troubles.the remote start can operate off one of two ways, tach signal or charge voltage. So here is the problem i dont have a tach so i tried useing the voltage regulator wiring but it doesnt produce a quick enough signal for the remote start to reconize its running. So my theory was to put in a tach but after getting one today and reading over the instructions (its an autometer) i see it has two wires coming from the alternator sensing device and now i dont know if i can go that route. So who here has a command sart in their truck and what is it using for a signal wire to tell it the truck is running.

Is your truck a factory ic truck if so you should have a factory tach plug under the dash you may be able to grab the signal off of that. If it is a factory non ic truck you may be able to set something up with a magnet style tach pick up on the crank.

It is a factory intercooller truck and it doesnt have the crank sensor or wiring in the truck at all.All though i do have a complete harness with it from one of the wrecked diesels in my collection.
