Question cold weather/grids

when its cold out my truck will never get up to normal summer driving temp with the temp guage standing straight up?? why is this wouldnt it warm up enough after about 30 mins... another thing is how do i remove my grids...if there restrictive im down to toss 'em... its not too cold down here or any where i go... will it add boost? power? is it good/bad for your truck?

If your engine isn't getting up to operating temp. then I would suspect your thermostat is bad. Normal temp is not with needle straight up and down. It should hold to about the second line on the gauge. At the base of the "normal zone." If your needle is straight up and down all the time, during summer operation, then I would expect your radiator isn't working as good as it should. Where does your needle stand during winter operation?

the normal temp for down here is the needle straight up and down... there a a couple first gens around here and thats exactly where they all run... they cant all be bad. and it will eventually get to normal temp but it takes about an hour, when its like 20* outside... the thermostat is good im positive..... thats whats confusing me??

Several companies sell "grid delete" spacers. The truck will do just fine without them.

However, you will not pick up a noticeable amount of power. Leave 'em be, spend your money elsewhere if you are looking for power.

The thermostat IS bad if it takes the truck an hour to warm up. What leads you to believe the thermostat is working properly?

You don't get cold enough in Texas foryour truck not to warm up after a half hour evern runnin' empty. At -20* runnin' empty I can get to 180*F after 10 minutes on the highway. I would definatley look into a t-stat problem.
