Clicking front brakes or....?

I have noticed a clicking noise which seems to be coming from my left front wheel. It sounds like I have a rock stuck in my tire, but quits when I press the brake pedal, let off pedal noise comes back. It is easiest to hear at about 25 mph or so, coasting. Above that the trucks other noises overcome it. I recently replaced both rotors, and cleaned/repacked bearings. I noticed that the outboard pads were loose so I bent the tabs on them to fit tighter on the caliper (no differance). Also, sometimes I get a large click when I first depress the brake pedal. Any ideas?

Mine used to make the same noise. I found it to be the caliper was loose in the mount, wouldn't come out, but the little spring underneath it to hold it up to the top has jump out and it was flopping around when I hit bumps and would make the big CLICK when I hit the brakes.

Mine required some custom shimming on the lower caliper retainer to keep the spring in there. So far so good (knocks on wood).

Sometimes the pads will rattle and click in the calipers at low speed. Get some of that glue stuff from the auto parts store and put it between the pad and the caliper. Also check the anti-rattle spring between the pad and the piston.

Anti-rattle spring between the pad and piston? Don't remember seeing one of those. Just the clip type things under the bolts that hold the caliper on. Am I missing something?

Yep. You're missing the anti-rattle spring clip. Your local auto parts store should have them.

I went out and checked it today. There are two pieces that go under each of the two bolts that hold the caliper. The smaller piece is the anti-rattle job. Mine were cracked at the thin spot, I broke them easily with my fingers. I had a couple spares from the brake job on my other truck. I put them on and took it for a short spin. Seemed to do the trick , but I still got a click when I depressed the brake pedal one time. I will get some new anti-rattle pieces the next time I'm out.
