caterpillar turbo

sooo im a dreamer, and i was sitting there working on the tug boat at work and i was looking at the motor and a thought came to mind, could you ever put a caterpillar turbo into our diesel motor with the right fabbing and adapters made to make it fit?, or would it just flow to much air in and blow head gaskets like there was no tomorrow?

Like you said, with enough fabbing and $$, there's no doubt it could be done. Question is, is it worth it? Just because it's on a CAT doesn't mean it'll blow head gaskets on a Cummins. All the specs of the turbo will help you decide if it's appropriate for your fueling levels. Without enough fuel, a big turbo will never light and the associated engines' head gasket will never blow.

I found an s300 which is a great high performance turbo for us, on ebay for $45 last week. But it was off a John Deere. After asking around it was clear it wouldnt work. It would bolt up, but you have to consider the wheel sizes inside, as these turbos are made to run at their prime at completely different rpms and driving styles.
