Can I use Jewel Lights instead....
I'm going to move my gauges from the pod where they're not really all that visible to the message center. I really don't care to much for it anyway. Can I use a jewel light for the wait to start light and the low fuel light and get them to operate. There appears to be some capaciters in behind the message center. Will it be necessary to do a complete rewire and design or just a plug and play situation? Electrical is not my area of expertise.

Thank you sir. I felt you'd know the answer. If you get to Montana to see Glacier National Park, I'd let you do my KDP. Too far to drive the old red truck to you. Now the Harley....different story. Thanks again.

Now, are you planning to take the whole message center and chuck it or are you mounting gauges so they block the lights and you want to move a couple lights? I think I misread your intentions. You need the diodes to make the lights work as designed, and the lights need to be incandescent. And the low-fuel doohickey is stuck to the the message center too...

I honestly don't think the lights are necessary, just my opinion.
key on, wait till you hear a big click or count to 10... fire it up.
Could'nt you just chase the wires from that round plug thing that goes into the message center and just tap some bulbs off of them?

Was going to ellimiate the whole message center. Have some lights out of a )Harley dash that I thought would look good in there (cats eye). Been wondering what to do with them. My wait to start never comes on above 30*'s so I could just wait for the click. And on those really cold day wait for the click twice. And maybe even remember to look down at the fuel gauge once in awhile. 600 miles between stops one get a little complaicent about it. I guess I'll trace some wires and play.

I was thinking of doing the same thing, I was just going to use one of the unused "Idiot" lights in the original cluster. I never had my heater click on until we had a "cold snap" here. I tell them here "it is COLD when you can walk on the lake!" after hearing them cycle, I agree, I dont need the stinkin' lamp!
If you still want to do it though, Just follow the trace to that lamp and take that resistor out, put it in line with the wire to the hot side of your lamp, and put shrink tube over the ends.
