california emission questions

I have a 91.5 dodge w350 srw, I have it moderatly bombed, im thinking about installing a set of lucas pod injectors, I know this things really smoke,
does anyone know if these trucks are exempt from emissions because it is
a commercial vehicle, or am I going to have a problem with new emission
laws, I heard the cops are pulling over trucks that leave black clouds where ever they go, so should I install the pod's are get a set of ddp stage III 40hp
injectors, I dont want to have to deal with emission problems, and fines or
tickets, my cousin has a bombed 2002 cummins, 450hp, it smokes like a freight train, also its straight piped and loud, is there any laws on noise pollution,
its a matter of time before he gets pulled over and gets a pink certificate.
any info would be greatly apprecaited, thanks all, shelby aka captcavy

There is no requirement for emissions testing on your truck. That's why I bought my '90.

I don't know what they can cite you for if you're blowing a lot of smoke, but it'd probably be best to tune your injector pump so you don't blow a lot unless you really have your foot into it, ie. turn down the smoke screw.

Well, a big, really dark smoke cloud really is a hazard to other motorists.

That'll be just one more reason for me to leave this state, not that I really need any more.

as far as I know you are allowed a few seconds of smoke for turbo lag as long as it clears up after the turbo comes up.
California is trying to get all mechanical injected equipment out of the state many construction companies are being forced to sell their old equipment out of state and buy new tier 4 stuff or do a 9grand upgrade per piece to bring them up to date. no wonder construction companies are leaving the state in mass.

There are other laws they can throw at you if they really want to regarding smoke including "obstruction of vision" for other motorists. But the technical law is 10 sec of smoke max on acceleration then it has to clear up

If you get down here to in San Bernardino, Orange, Riverside or Los Angeles County they are brainwashing your fellow motorist to call your license plate into the SCAQMD if they see any smoke.

I have already received 2 friendly letters from them on my 6.2 with tired injectors going up Kellogg Hill.

I personally do not like smoke because it is wasting fuel

Also I am running across more and more of these setup at the end of onramps in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties.

Although we do not have to have our trucks smogged they will catch you if you passed here smoking.

The guy in the trailer opened the door and looked at me because I was taking his picture.

They'll raise h-e-double-ell with your truck for smoking, but they won't let the forest service do clean-up burns to get rid of dead undergrowth....
Guess they'd rather put up with forest fires burning their homes than give an inch on diesels.....
